We are The Wandering Hound

Who we are: We are a small, family-run business located in regional NSW, Australia. We have three children – two of the less furry kind, and one miniature chocolate dachshund.

What we do: We sell dog accessories that are manufactured using a material that is made from recycled bottles. We donate 25% of all profit to animal welfare charities and groups.

Who we help: Animal welfare groups, conservation groups, animal shelters… basically any group that falls into one of these categories and needs a helping (monetary) hand! If you are a charity or group and would like to partner with us, please get in touch via our contact form.

Our Aim: To make a difference. Everything we do here, we do with the bigger picture in mind. We want to create products that have less impact on the environment and will continue to develop our products and brand with the advancement of eco-friendly and sustainable materials. And whilst we work on limiting our impact on the environment, we want to make sure that what we are doing provides help and support to charities in need.

Our Products

The webbing we use in our dog accessories (the pretty bit!) is made from a product called rPET (Recycled Polyethylene Terephthalate). So we can better explain the benefits of using rPET materials, we’ll explain what PET is.

PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) is the most commonly used plastic in the world; around 40% of the packaging we use in our day-to-day lives is made using PET. Our rPET products come from the recycling of (PET) plastic bottles. Bottles are collected, cleaned, and then turned into rPET.

rPET can be recycled again and again without breaking down, meaning it’s truly a more sustainable choice.

The United Nations Environment Program and several other organisations have reported that rPET is preferable to alternative materials because of its reduced carbon footprint.
